Where is Heatherwood?
The Riverdale campus is located off HWY 138/Jonesboro Road in Fulton County. Located at 2195 HWY 138 in Riverdale, the campus is easy to find and is convenient from I-85, GA-85, and from the bottom end of the I-285 perimeter/Airport area.
The Newnan campus is located in the Shenandoah community of Newnan, just off of I-85 at exit 47. The campus is located at the corner of Lower Fayetteville Road and Shenandoah Blvd, just opposite the main entrance to the Summergrove neighborhood.
What do I wear?
The Riverdale campus offers a traditional service only. Guests will be most comfortable in traditional church attire.
The Newnan campus offers two services, a traditional service and a contemporary service. Jeans and sneakers are acceptable in contemporary church, and traditional clothing is most prevalent in traditional church.
At both locations, we encourage you to come as you are. Although suits and dresses are more prevalent in traditional church, we welcome anyone who would come in modest apparel of any kind.
Where do I park?
Guest parking is available near each entrance and is marked by guest parking signs. If guest parking is full, please park anywhere you would like.
Which door should I use?
At our Riverdale campus, please feel free to use any door to our facility.
At the Newnan campus, we have several worship centers. If you are arriving for traditional church, please use the door and covered drive on the front side of the building. If you are arriving for contemporary church, please use the doors beneath the covered drive on the back side of the building. For either service, you may use the doors in the “Well” area, located in the middle of our facility on both sides. Look for directional signs in our parking lot.
Where should I take my kids?
Children’s check-in is located in the Well area, in the middle of our facility. When entering from a door other than the Well area doors, take any hallway to the middle of the facility. When you arrive in the Well area, you will see the children’s check in station. All halls lead to the well, although you may have to walk though the gym or the fellowship hall to get there. Keep walking and you will find it!
What are worship services like?
Traditional services at both campuses will be familiar to traditional church attendees. Expect spirited music on screens and from the Baptist Hymnal, selected times of prayer and offering, followed by excellent preaching. Our choirs and special music will be a blessing to you, as will our commitment to expository preaching.
Contemporary church at the Newnan Campus is less structured and free in format. After opening remarks, our worship band leads in a half hour of worship music featuring the latest in praise and worship music. Preaching is relevant, interesting, and expository in nature.
Each service concludes with an open altar for prayer, decisions, or other matters of the day. Those seeking the Lord are encouraged to come forward and speak to a minister during the invitation time.
Does the church offer Sunday School?
Yes! Heatherwood is committed to Sunday School in both locations. There are usually several options available for every age group. Expect to take several weeks and try out a few classes to find the one that fits. Our teachers are exceptional and most classes are engaged in extra curricular events, from missions projects to fellowship events. Sunday School is essential for building vital relationships and for connecting to Heatherwood.
What does the church believe?
Heatherwood is a Southern Baptist congregation. As such we adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, available for your examination here.
How do I become a member?
Heatherwood accepts members several ways, and we would encourage you to join fellowship with us as soon as you are confident that the Lord has lead you here. First, we receive members who make a profession of their faith in Christ Jesus and follow in believer’s baptism. A person would choose this route if they had come to faith at our church and desired to follow that decision with church membership. Second, we receive members by transfer of membership from another church. A person would join in this fashion if they were already a follower of Christ who had been affiliated with another church. Third, we receive members by statement of their faith in Christ and desire to join the church. A person would join by this method if they were a professing believer in Christ, but had no former church membership. In each case, Heatherwood requires all members to be born again, to be baptized as believer’s by immersion, and to complete a new member’s class.
